Carolyn Jean (Rizer) Sayre, 79, of Hartford, WV, passed away April 5, 2026, in Arbors of Pomeroy, Pomeroy, OH, following an extended illness.

She was born October 15, 1946, the daughter of the late Vernon Russell and Margaret C. (Zerkle) Rizer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Lee Rizer; sister, Patsy A. Yantis; granddaughter, Airael Derifield.

She was a graduate of Wahama High School Class of 1964 and the Huntington School of Beauty. She was a Methodist, enjoyed the beach, cutting hair and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a retired Certified Nurses Assistant from Lakin State Hospital, West Columbia, WV.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Dale Sayre and his wife Lisa of Saint Albans, WV; daughter, Stephanie Anne Sayre of Hartford, WV; brother, Daniel E. Rizer and his wife Tammy of Hartford, WV; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. ~ Friday, April 10, 2026, in Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Letart, WV, with Pastor Rex Young officiating.
