Earl Dean
Knight
Sep 14, 1934 — Oct 15, 2022
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather Earl Dean Knight, 88, of New Haven, WV heard his savior Jesus Christ call his name on October 15, 2022 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He was born September 14, 1934, in Hartford, WV to father Rutter and mother Sybil (Romine) Knight.
Earl Dean Knight married Ramona Ann Gibbs on March 16, 1958, and together they built a loving family with Christ the solid rock as their foundation. Their love story was one for the ages and was an inspiration to all who witnessed it. Dean was a United States Navy Veteran who served his country faithfully from 1954-1958 on the USS Harold J Ellison DD 864 and the USS Hartley DE 1029. He joined the Navy to see the world, and he did. Dean saw 17 countries on 4 continents. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum Plant as an electrician but those who knew him knew he all but stopped being an electrician when he left his profession. In April of 1998, he had the great privilege of traveling to put his skills to work on the generators of Mercy Ships floating hospital in San Diego, California and on a separate occasion, was able to help build and wire a Native American mission school in Arizona. A large part of Dean's legacy will be that he was always willing to help those in need. He attended Fairview Bible Church and loved Jesus Christ with all his heart, soul, and mind. He loved to serve the Lord by teaching Sunday school for many many years, leading youth groups, and frequently playing his harmonica in church. He was an incredible witness for the gospel to anyone he met, and it was evident that he cared about the souls of others. When Dean did something, he did it with full detail and determination. This was especially true with his hobbies which included a full model train room in his basement and an immaculate yard and garden. His love of trains began when he worked for the C&O Railroad in Huntington, WV and continued throughout his entire life. Dean was a man who did everything with his whole heart, as working for the Lord. (Col. 3:23)
He was preceded in death by mother Sybil Knight, father Rutter Knight, and grandson Isaac Foreman.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 64 years, Ramona Ann (Gibbs) Knight. Additionally, he is survived by his daughter Kimberly Litchfield (Danny), son Kevin Knight (Joni), daughter Beth Foreman (Dave), son Jason Knight (Rhea), and brother Carroll Knight. He will be greatly missed by grandchildren Danyal, Caleb, Whitney Dean, Caitlyn, Hannah, and Benjamin and great grandchildren Noah, Alyssa, Adyson, Journey, Story, Nora, Foster, Greta Dean, Meyer, Grady, and Camille.
Graveside service will be held at Graham Cemetery in New Haven, WV, on October 18, 2022 at 1 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Union Mission Ministries in Charleston, WV.
Arrangements are under the direction of Foglesong-Casto Funeral Home, Mason, WV.
