Eddie Keith
Bumgarner
Nov 29, 1933 — Jun 26, 2026
Eddie Keith Bumgarner, 92, of New Haven, WV passed away on June 26, 2026 at Saint Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV after an extended illness.
He was born November 29, 1933, at his parents' home on Longdale Road, Letart, WV, the son of the late Claud and Edith (McMillin) Bumgarner. His sister, Donna (Bumgarner) Dotson and Uncle Everett E. Bumgarner, also preceded him in death.
Eddie was in every sense of the phrase, a Godly and kind man.
Throughout his life he had a passion to help everyone around him in so many ways. He taught so many relatives and children of the neighborhood how to ride bicycles, catch lightning bugs, play ball, set off fireworks during our family 4th of July celebrations, make homemade ice cream, how to be a kind human being and many more. If you ever knew Eddie in any capacity, chances are he helped you with something, taught you something or was just genuinely kind to you, all while spreading the Word of God.
Eddie also had a passion for hot rod cars and drag racing. An original member of the New Haven Road Angels, he was one of if not the best drag race drivers in the area. However, it was more than just about wins, it was about the friendships gained through a common interest and comradery.
From a very young age he also loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fox hunting and his fox hounds, which later changed to his pack of Beagles and rabbit hunting with so many of his friends and relatives. That sound of beagles running a rabbit was near and dear to his heart, as were the lasting memories of the friends he shared that with in the field.
And one can't tell the story of Eddie Bumgarner without mentioning his love of gardening, camping, hiking, watching birds, feeding the birds, squirrels and deer, watching wildlife, meticulously taking care of his vehicles, lawn mowers, lawn and any tool or piece of equipment he had, as well as his love for biking. He put so many miles on his bicycles, from biking just for the enjoyment of the outdoors and exercise, to delivery of Our Daily Bread publications to many people. He also worked on people's bikes and fixed many to be used by or gave to kids that didn't have a bike to ride.
He handled everything in his life with meticulous care. From the people in it to everything he owed or was entrusted to take care of.
He was a member of The New Haven United Methodist Church and an original Member of The New Haven Road Angels.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Janet Marleen (Flowers) Bumgarner, son Wesley Keith Bumgarner & wife Melissa Renee (Smith) Bumgarner of New Haven, WV, Grandchildren: Tyler Bumgarner of Wheelersburg, OH and Brycen Bumgarner of New Haven, WV.
Viewing and Services will be held on July 3, 2026 at the New Haven United Methodist Church, with Pastor Thomas Beckette officiating.
Viewing will be from 12pm to 2 pm. Service will be at 2pm, followed by graveside service at Graham Cemetery.
