F. Boone Sloas, 79, of Hartford, WV, passed away September 7, 2023, at home, with family by his side.

He was born June 7, 1944, in Elliott County, KY, a son of the late Marion and Millie (Maxie) Sloas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and stepson, Todd Nutter.

Boone was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. He retired from Union # 521, Huntington, as a Supervisor Pipefitter with over 37 years of service. Boone was a member of the VFW Post #9926, Mason and the Hepburn Lodge #576, Elk Fork, KY. He loved following politics and would often watch Fox News. Boone enjoyed playing his guitar, listening and singing Bluegrass music, cutting grass, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Betty (Roush) Sloas; sons, Randy Sloas of Grayson, KY, Nathaniel Sloas and his wife, Amanda of West Liberty, KY; daughter, Rebekah Hitch and her husband, Dwayne of Elliot County, KY; stepson, Chris Nutter and his wife, Cory of Letart, WV, Tanner Nutter; sister, Bessie Skaggs of Grayson, KY; grandchildren, Rachel, Ciah, Sky, Savannah, Bentley, Aliayh, Kolton, Adan, Meggan and Melony.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Graham Baptist Church Cemetery, New Haven, WV. Military honors will be provided by the Stewart Johnson V.F.W. Post 9926, Mason, WV, American Legion Post 140, New Haven, WV, and V.F.W. Post 0039, Pomeroy, OH.
