Ilif "Jack" Hess of Dresden Ohio, formerly of New Haven, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

He was born December 14, 1928, in Jodie West Virginia, the son of Austin Ottie and Hazel (Thomas) Hess of Jodie, Wv.

Jack is survived by his wife of 68 years Betty Rollins Hess of Dresden Ohio; daughter, Gloria (Terry) West Dresden, Ohio; son, Larry (Carol) of Middleport, Ohio. He was a very proud Pawpaw of Jamie (Teddy) Wilson of Florida ,Joseph (Lisa) Wilson of Florida, Larry Hess Jr. (Candice)Pomeroy, Ohio, Corey (Devon) Hess of Pomeroy, Oh, and Christina Hendel of New Haven, Wv; great grandchildren Tristan (Owen)Wilson of Indiana , Jada Hess of Virginia, Loudan Hess of Ravenswood Wv, Kendall Hess of Pomeroy, Ohio, Nicholas Hendel of New Haven Wv, Corinna(Mike)Gerber and Liam of Loveland ,Ohio and two very special great grandchildren that helped take care of him daily Ibanez and Zoey Craig of Dresden, Ohio; sisters, Julia Capeheart of Mason, West Virginia, Helen Stephenson of Drennan, West Virginia, Rebecca Leg of Cedar Grove, West Virginia, Alice Roush of Michigan, and Norma Zimmerman of Florida.

He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Junior Order of Lodge. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, West Virginia where he retired after 33 1/2 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren who were the loves of his life. Jack enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Foglesong-Casto Funeral Home in Mason, West Virginia with Rev. Donald Dye officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Letart,WV, with Military Honors provided by V.F.W Post #9926, Mason, WV, American Legion Post #140, New Haven, WV, and American Legion Post #0039 Pomeroy, OH. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
