Jack Reitmire Sr., of Letart, WV, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, at Holzer Hospital in Gallipolis, OH, following an extended illness.

He was born on November 27, 1946, in WV, a son of the late Harry Alfred and Erma Beatrice (Cunningham) Reitmire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Gayle Reitmire; brothers, Bob, Tooney, Kenny, Jimmy, Mike, Ray, Richard, Tom, and George; sister, Debbie; many nieces and nephews.

Jack was a retired Coal Miner with Southern Ohio Coal Company, but also did carpentry for many years. In addition to his work, he belonged to the Carpenters Union, UMWA District 17 Local 1857, and engineered, built, and worked on many projects. He loved to hunt, fish, garden, raise animals, and write meaningful sayings. Jack will always be remembered for being a great Christian man, the best father and pawpaw, and for the wonderful and thoughtful advice he gave to many.

Survivors include his children, Jack (Lurinda Gardner) Reitmire Jr., of Point Pleasant, WV and Rebecca Hieronymus, of Letart, WV; their mother, Karen Teresa Valenzuela; sister, Erma Joanne Goulart; grandkids, Jesse, Brennen, Michaela, and Gavin Hieronymus, Jack III and Breaunna Reitmire, Brayden Shell, Bentley, Drake, and Noah Gardner, Maggie and Bryleigh Swisher; great-grandkids, Skylar, Eliajah, Naomi Grace, Jaceon, Layla, and Jason.

In keeping with Jack's wishes, services at this time will be private.
