John Thomas Kearns Jr., 87 of Mason, WV, passed away August 3, 2026, at home following a brief illness.

He was born November 12, 1938, in Hartford, WV, a son of the late John Thomas Kearns and Anna Edra (Robie) Kearns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Reba Haga.

He was a graduate of Wahama High School and a United States Army Veteran. He retired from Shell/Goodyear with 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the Clifton Methodist Church, enjoyed old tractors and was a life member of the Stewart-Johnson V.F.W. Post # 9926 Mason, WV.

Survivors include his sons, John Thomas Kearns III and his wife Lisa of Gallipolis, OH and Scott Edward Kearns of Mason, WV; grandchildren, Jessica Kearns, Cassandra (Andre) Walker and Derek (Lara) Hogan; 10 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Clifton Methodist Church with Neil Tennent and George Kearns officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Letart, WV with military rites provided by VFW Post # 9926 Mason, WV and American Legion Post #140 New Haven, WV. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time-of-service Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Clifton Methodist Church to further their ministry.
