John James Turnbull Sr., 82, of Mason, WV, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV, following an extended illness.

He was born May 22, 1942, in Hartford, WV, a son of the late Richard James and Rena Maxine (Gibbs) Turnbull. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen (Phillips) Turnbull.

John was a 1961 graduate of Wahama High School and had worked as a Welder for many years. He enjoyed visiting the Mason Senior Citizen Center and was Christian by faith.

Survivors include his son, John J. Turnbull Jr., of Point Pleasant, WV; daughter, Greta Sue Turnbull of Mason, WV; sister, Dixie Flower of Letart, WV; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Emma, Elin, and Eric Turnbull.

Service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason, WV. Burial will follow in the Zerkle Cemetery, Letart, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
