Lisa Lynn Gilland, 60, of New Haven, WV, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at home, following a brief battle with a rare form of kidney disease.

She was born June 20, 1960, in Mason County, WV, a daughter of the late Robert and Barbara (Howard) Gilland.

Lisa started her nursing career at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Pomeroy, OH, working in the emergency department and home health. She then worked at Pleasant Valley Hospital for several years up until the time of her sickness. She attended the Maranatha Cornerstone Church and enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family and always making sure she was there for her kids.

Survivors include her son, Tom Bird and his wife, Ashley of New Haven; daughter, Venessa Ward (Chris Pickens) of Pomeroy; brothers, Mark Gilland and his wife Virginia, Darren Gilland and his wife, Kelly; sister, Pam Abels and six grandchildren, Ava Siders, Brinnley Ward, Mylo Pickens, Koa Pickens, Trenton Bird and Macy Bird.

A memorial visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason, WV with the Nurse Honor Guard of the Ohio Valley honoring Lisa at 1:50 p.m. Following the visitation, a procession will leave the funeral home to Graham Baptist Church Cemetery for a graveside service.
