Paul Wayne
Crump
Nov 21, 1958 — Apr 5, 2025
Paul Wayne Crump, 66, of Mason, West Virginia passed away with his wife, daughter and son by his side on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, following a sudden illness.
Paul was born November 21, 1958, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia to the late James Crump and Julia Elliott Crump Long. He is proceeded in death by his stepfather, Frank Long, brother CW2 James Crump, and brothers-in-law Butch Stewart and Tim Stewart. Paul is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth "Lisa" Crump, daughter Leslie "Nikki" Kuhn (John), son James Crump (Nicole), and three grandchildren: James, Evelyn and Chloe Crump, as well as his mother-in-law, Evelyn Stewart, sister Shari Cochran (Gary), sisters-in-law Diana Crump Buster (Pete), Jackie Stewart Byars (Scott), Sandy Stewart, plus nieces and nephews.
Paul graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1977, where he enjoyed playing basketball. Even as a young man, Paul was a dedicated husband and cared about providing for his young family. Early in life, he delivered newspapers, was a milk man, and worked as a police officer. Paul served in the West Virgina National Guard, and he was also a volunteer firefighter, which he loved. Most recently, Paul served for several years as the local magistrate in New Haven and Mason.
Many people who worked with Paul through the years became lifelong friends, not just coworkers and employers of "PW". Most of his career was at Hocking Correctional Facility in Nelsonville, Ohio, first as a correctional officer and retired, as a Captain. In addition, Paul worked for Auto Options in Mason, initially under Greg Roush and later, under Jenny and JW Howard. In this role, Paul was a delivery driver and loved going out on delivery "runs". The longer the run, the more fun he had because he enjoyed the adventure and open road.
In his spare time, Paul enjoyed following WVU Football, Basketball, Cincinnati Bengals and the Reds. One of his favorite things to do was take car rides in the country with his family to visit and share stories. Paul was a member of the New Haven Road Angels, among other car clubs. He enjoyed his hot rods and could tell you about every car he ever owned, some of which he enjoyed immensely and some of which were bought purely out of necessity, like "Old Blue".
Paul had a special knack for remembering important dates and could tie nearly every anniversary, birthday or other special occasion to the car he was driving at the time. A useless skill, but one that everyone in his family found enduring.
The most important thing for Paul was being with his family and he was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather, who will be sorely missed. Paul had a sensitive heart of gold and cared deeply.
Service will be 12 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason, WV, with Neil Tennant officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens, Point Pleasant, WV. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, at the funeral home.
