Obituary

Ronald Keith Hester, 74, of Ravenswood, passed away on January 17, 2022, peacefully, at home, and in the presence of his nearest and dearest.  He was diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2021.

Ron (aka "Ronnie," aka "Hawk") was born on September 15, 1947 to Eugene and Pauline "Pod" Hester (nee Morrisette) in Logan, West Virginia.  He graduated from Wahama High School in 1965 and studied to become an X-ray technician.  However, among his various exploits, he was proud to be a steelworker and was a naturally gifted entertainer. Ron married his high school sweetheart Beverly Anne Burns in 1966.  They made two people, Stacy Anne and Melinda Kaye, and raised them in New Haven.  He later lived in Florida and Ohio, but ultimately returned to his home state. Ron loved to ride a Harley.  He was both a "cat person" and a "dog person."  He had an inimitable sense of humor.  He lived on the edge.  He knew a lot about a lot of things, which, in combination with his dedication to Dr. Phil and Judge Judy, made him an excellent source of advice.

Ron was predeceased by his wife, father, and mother.  He will be missed by his daughters, Stacy A. Hester of Morgantown, WV and Mindy K. Bates of Newark, OH; grandsons, Carson W. Fink and Liam A. Bates; long-time partner Dora S. McFall and her three children, Sheila (Terry) Hamrick of Tampa, FL, Shawn McFall of Richmond, VA, and Eddie (Stacy) McFall of Robson, WV, five grandchildren, and great granddaughter; brother Eugene (Tracy) Hester, Jr of Ocala, FL; loving and loved extended family; and his precious pup, Stella, and black cat, Buh-buh-buh-boots.

Due to the pandemic, no gathering or service will be held.  For donations in his memory, please consider Kanawha Hospice Care or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
