Rupert Leon Howard, 84, of Hartford, WV, was welcomed into heaven by his loving daughter on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 27, 1938, in Hartford, WV, a son of the late Stephen and Ina Mae (Rickard) Howard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Mae Howard; grandson, Gabriel Ohlinger; and two sisters, Barbara Gilland and Georgie Milhoan.

Rupert retired from Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, Ravenswood with 33 years of service. He was the jack of all trades who knew how to fix and build anything and loved lending a helping hand to others. He was a past Councilman for the town of Hartford and worked for the water department.

Left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Herdman) Howard; children, Christina Ohlinger and her husband, Johnny of Letart, Steven Howard of Mason, Tracey Fields and her husband, Scott of Hartford, Lori Anderson and her husband, Keith of Hartford; grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Putney, Nichole (Justin) Carr, Ashley (Wes) Riffle, Matthew Ohlinger, Ryan Anderson; great grandchildren, Marlee, Paislee, and Tucker Carr, Emersyn, and Mattis Riffle; sisters, Marjorie Strickland, Alice (Jim) Leach; special friend and caregiver, Amanda Fields and favorite Doctor, Dr. Robert Tayengco of Point Pleasant.

To honor Rupert's wishes, there will be no services.
