Sally Lou
Clark
Jun 2, 1928 — Feb 23, 2025
On Sunday, February 23, 2025, Sally L. (Roush) Clark, of Lakin, West Virginia, passed on to be the with the Lord following an extended illness at age 96. She was born in Maggie, WV at home, on June 2, 1928, and was later married in that same home on February 28, 1947, to Melvin Earl Clark.
She was a proud, 1946 graduate of Wahama High School, and, afterward, attended West Virginia Wesleyan and Ohio University. As a young woman she was a substitute teacher in Mason County, a devoted housewife, and was the YMCA office administrator in Point Pleasant, WV for 16 1/2 years. She was quite the socialite and was active in many groups. For over 70 years, she was part of Nehaclima, a Garden Club in New Haven, WV, was a member of the "Wives Club of the Major League Baseball Alumni Association," and, until Sunday evening, was the last surviving member of the original "Bend Area Couples Club."
Sally was a devoted churchgoer. She was a member of Flats Presbyterian Church until 1944, a member of Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir until 1989, and settled as member of Faith Baptist Church in Mason, WV, where she was active in the choir and many other social activites.
Her hobbies included, but were certainly not limited to, her faith and her family, enjoying time at the family farm, singing in the church choir, and avid involvement in the couple's club.
Sally is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Melvin Earl Clark, her parents Lou Roush and Hallie Mitchell Roush, her brother John Curtis Roush, her niece Cinda Kay Roush and many other family members.
She is survived by her two children: Brent (Amanda) Clark and Barbara (Charles) Davis. In addition to her children, she is also survived by her 6 grandchildren: Maura (Benjamin) Brown, Bradford (Hannah) Clark, Jarret (Savannah) Davis, Meredith (Tate) Hansom, Brenton (Laurel) Clark, and Aaron Davis; as well as her 15 great-grandchildren: Adrienne, Addison, Annalise and Aleydis Brown, Lydia and Charlotte Clark, Leighton and Raelyn Davis, Hallie Anne, Hudson and Hunter Hansom, and Brooks, Audell, Collins and Annika Clark.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the wonderful caregivers who assisted in Sally's late-in-life care: Lisa, Anita, Amber, Amy, Sandy, Diana, Wanda, Stephanie, Patty and Joanne.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Mason, WV, officiated by Pastor, Joshua Waybright.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 1, from 11:00-1:00 with the funeral service immediately following from 1-2. The graveside service and burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens where she will lay in rest beside her husband, Mel.
While our hearts might weigh heavy with the earthly absence of Sally, we cannot fully be expected to be without hope. The hope that we have in Jesus, and His promise of eternity with Him, far outweighs any grief we could suffer here. As Christians, the trust we have in Heaven is the balm our souls need to withstand the passing of people we love; and this moment in time is no different. We have hope in Jesus through the example of a life long-lived in Sally Clark, and there couldn't be a greater gift to leave than that.
