Scott Derek King, 66, of New Haven, WV, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at OSU Wexner Hospital, Columbus, OH, following a brief illness.

He was born May 7, 1957, in Mason, WV, a son of Carl King and the late Vera (Staats) Thompson. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ralph Thompson.

Scott was a 1975 graduate of Wahama High School and veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of River of Life Church in Rutland and worked at Hogg & Zuspan in Mason with over 30 years of faithful service. Scott was also a referee in West Virginia for various high school football teams with 40 years of service.  Besides his love of football, he also loved fishing and caring for his family and pets.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Cindy King; daughter, Beth Mayle and husband, DJ; grandchildren, Bailey and Marlee Laudermilt; brothers, Carl King and wife, Maureen of New Haven, Dale King and wife, Twyla of Norfolk, VA, and Ralphie Thompson of New Haven.

Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason, WV, with Pastor Donnie Dye officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
