Thomas Middleton Johnson Jr., 86, of Mason, WV, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at home.

He was born August 28, 1937, in Hartford, WV, a son of the late Thomas Middleton Sr. and Francis Margaret (Duncan) Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elzanna Lucille (Johnson) Fields.

Thomas was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator with Meigs Mine #31 with several years of service. He served in the United States Army National Guard and attended Faith Baptist Church in Mason. Thomas enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, and tinkering in the garage. He also enjoyed watching old westerns and Clint Eastwood.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara Jean (Zirkle) Johnson; son, Thomas Johnson III, of Mason; sister, Virginia Mae (Johnson) Gibbs-Buckhannon and extended family and friends.

Services will be private. He will be laid to rest at Zerkle Cemetery in Letart, WV.
