He was born April 23, 1973, in Gallipolis, OH, a son of Regina Lynn Gibbs and the late William Ralph Hayes. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

Known to everyone as Eric, he graduated high school in 1991 and furthered his thirst for knowledge at the University of Rio Grande. Eric held a black belt in Karate-Jujitsu, was involved with wrestling teams, and loved playing with his num-chuks, which he was very talented with. He enjoyed fishing, fixing, and riding motorcycles and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He is forever loved and will be missed greatly.
