Walter Allen Hayes, 79, of Middleport, OH, passed away September 15, 2021 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, OH.

He was born February 7, 1942 in Meigs County, OH and was the son of the late Arnold and Nettie Badgley Hayes.

He worked as a steelworker for Mid-West Steel. He enjoyed listening to country music and Merle Haggard and going to flea markets.

Survivors include three daughters, Susan Petry of New Haven, WV, Terri Hysell (Bruce) of St. Albans, WV, Debbie Quivey of Racine OH; three stepsons, Robert Board (Cindy Jordan) of Point Pleasant, WV, James Board (Lois) of Mason, WV, Johnny Board (Robin) of Letart, WV; one brother, Bob Hayes Syracuse, OH; special friend, Betty Wilson of Athens, OH; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Hayes; stepson, Bert Board; and two brothers, Bill and Gene Hayes.

Graveside service will be 2 PM~ Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Kirkland Memorial Gardens, Point Pleasant, WV with Pastor Charlie Cundiff officiating.
