William Lee Greer was born on January 23, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA. He was the first child born to the Union of James Lee Greer & Esther Goodwin Greer. Bill was followed by Susan (Ron) Panter (deceased) and John (Joanne) Greer, and Deborah (Steve) Kardas as surviving. The Greer family settled in the small village of Hadder Township to raise their family.

Bill graduated from Hadden Township High School in 1965 and entered the Naval Reserve. The next chapter of Bills life started in a very different environment, more specifically, Alderson-Broaddus University, Philippi, West Virginia. The first two years Bill studied the secondary history program & met his beautiful first wife and the mother of his sons, Bertha (Betty) Roush-Greer. Bill and Betty's children are Jeffrey of Columbus, Ohio, and James (Mindy) of Vermillion, Ohio. After two years Bill and Betty left Philippi for Bill to complete two years of active duty in the Navy on the ship Yosimenite. Bill retired with a total of 23 years in the military. The family returned to Alderson Broaddus where Bill completed his college degree.

William Lee is survived by his second wife Mary; two sons James and Jeff; brother John; grandsons Josh & Joseph; and special family, Susan, Brittany and Mitchell.

Service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason, WV, with Pastor Mike Finnicum officiating. Burial will follow at Graham Baptist Church Cemetery, New Haven, WV. Military honors will be provided by the Stewart Johnson V.F.W. Post 9926, Mason, WV, American Legion Post 140, New Haven, WV, and American Legion Post 0039, Pomeroy, OH. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
