William Edward Bird passed away at his home in New Haven, WV, on October 04, 2021, following a long illness.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Jane E (Roush) Bird for 50 years. William was born on May 09, 1948, in Pearisburg, VA, the son of Loren and Pauline Bird. He was a 1966 graduate of Wahama High School and a US Army veteran where he served as an MP. William served for 50 years in the New Haven Fire Department where he was the treasurer since 1978. He also was a member of the St Paul Lutheran Church in New Haven. William retired from Constellium Rolled Products in 2013, then was employed as a driver for Bob's Market and Greenhouses and JM Industrial until the time of his illness. William was best known for his selfless desire to help others as well as being a devout WVU fan.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were 4 brothers; Loren D. Bird, Sam Bird, Ritchie Bird and Jim Bird. Besides his wife, those surviving include his two children Sarah Bird of Louisville, KY and Timothy Bird of New Haven; two sisters, Judy Hesson of New Haven and Margie Reed of Charlotte, NC.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday October 6, 2021, at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Letart, WV, with Pastor Patrice Weirick officiating.
