Winchell 'Roy' Friend, of Letart, WV, passed away on May 20, 2026, following an extended illness.

He was born on March 21, 1944, in Letart, WV, a son of the late, Walter and Hazel (Boyer) Friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Friend; son, Raymond Friend; and two sisters.

Roy enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, and watching baseball games. He was a hardworking man that people naturally gravitated towards, and his sarcastic wit will be missed by many.

Survivors include his sons, Norman and Bruce Friend; brother, Walter 'Ray' (Pat) Friend; sister, June Ann Friend; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Service will be 3:00 p.m. ~ Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Foglesong-Casto Funeral Home, Mason, WV, with Pastor Randy Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Letart Evergreen Cemetery, Letart, WV. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time-of-service Sunday at the funeral Home.
