Winifrede Virginia (Goodnite) Clarke, 98, of Letart, WV, passed away September 21, 2023, in Lakin Hospital, West Columbia, WV, following an extended illness.

She was born August 10, 1925, in Letart, WV, a daughter of the late Wayne and Goldie (Crawford) Goodnite. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lester Clarke; brothers, Howard and Bill Goodnite; sisters, Velma Richards, Erma Wright, Virgie Goodnite and two infant sisters.

She was a retired cook from the Mason County Board of Education and a former beautician at Meirs Hairdressers in Falls Church, VA. She was a member of the Graham Baptist Church, New Haven, WV. She enjoyed picking berries and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Ray Curtis "Curtie" Clarke and his wife Linda, Earl William "Bill" and his wife Linda and Edwin Lee Clarke all of Letart; brothers, Jimmy Goodnite of New Haven, Jackie (Judy) Goodnite of Louisville, OH, Bobby Goodnite of Letart; sister, Naomi Young of Letart; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great children.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. ~ Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Graham Baptist Church Cemetery, New Haven, WV, with Pastor Joe Ohlinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
